6 Sensible Reasons to Have a Playpen for Your Puppy

A puppy is full of energy and curiosity about everything that he can get his little nose into.

And although it’s lovely to see your cute pup explore the wonders of the world, it’s also how he gets himself in trouble. As a pet parent, your duty is to keep your puppy safe, and the best way to do that is by housing your pup in a pet playpen.

A playpen is the easiest way you can fence off an area while allowing your pooch to move around and exercise. It’s just like putting your pup in a playground where he can play all he wants but with supervision.

If you have your pup’s best interests at heart, investing in a playpen is the best decision you’ll ever make. Here are sensible reasons to further convince you on why you should do so:

1. Adequate space

A young pup needs enough space to channel all his physical energy; else, he will end up chewing your slippers, shoelaces, furniture and other household items. Unlike a cage, a playpen is spacious enough for your dog to enjoy and have fun. It offers freedom for a puppy to play his heart out.

With a playpen, you can simply leave your dog to entertain himself while you’re away. All you have to do is toss his favorite toys in and his pet bed to make him feel comfortable. You may also want to include food and water just in case your pup gets hungry after playtime.

2. Safety

Young dogs tend to eat anything they lay their eyes on. This can be quite harmful if they come in contact with electrical devices or poisonous items lying around.

By installing a playpen, you can provide safety for your puppy especially when you need to step outside or if you’re too busy with household chores to keep a close watch on him.

3. Home protection

Along with your pup’s safety, a playpen also assures your home’s safety.

When you confine your puppy in a playpen, you have better chances of keeping your house in one piece. After all, you never know what your pup might damage if you leave him running free around the house.

Having a playpen is a win-win situation. You get to allow your dog to have fun in an assigned boundary without putting both your pup and your house at risk of dangers and damages.

Make sure not to forget tossing some toys into the playpen so that your pup stays busy and won’t think of tearing the barrier down.

4. Social connection

Dogs are social creatures that don’t want to be isolated. If you lock your pup in a crate or in a room, you will be depriving him of company which will then cause loneliness and stress.

So set up a playpen close to you where your dog can see you without disrupting your work.

A playpen allows you to keep your pup company without having to oversee everything he does. This way, your dog can still enjoy his time, while you enjoy your time as well without worrying about the safety of your furry friend.

5. Easy outdoor setup

If your pup loves the outdoors but always ends up digging your beautiful landscape, a playpen can be the best solution.

All you have to do is set up your playpen outside to let your pooch enjoy the open air without destroying your newly-planted flowers or your well-manicured lawn. It’s an easy and convenient setup, plus, you don’t have to strain your pup’s neck by holding him down using a leash.

6. Training ground

A young puppy needs chew toy training and house training to become a disciplined canine.

Without proper training, your pup will believe that he can do whatever he wants including peeing and pooping everywhere and destroying your furniture.

But what if you can’t get your dog’s attention during training?

A playpen acts as a confinement area which allows you to have your pup’s full attention. This way, you can train your pup properly without him being distracted by other household items lying around.

A playpen is a great tool to give your pet freedom to enjoy being a puppy without putting his safety in jeopardy.

You can’t always keep an eye on your dog 24/7, so opt for a playpen and have peace of mind knowing your beloved pooch is happy, safe and sound.
